One Crazed Parent On Little League Season

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Its that time of the year; new baseball cleats being purchased, mitts worked in, and arms stretched out. Its Little League season and teams are forming. Our friend Crazed Parent has an excellent post on her feelings and behaviors as she watches her son start T-ball this spring. Its truly  great time of year for families across America and around the world. From Crazed Parent.

And I have to make an embarrassing confession. At his game later in the day, he made a move that made me jump out of my seat and yell. And I looked back at the other parents and realized they were all yelling too. The play? He was stuck between third and the plate, a true game of pickle with the gal on third base coming after him. And he hustled his way to the plate and scored a run.

I felt that odd mixture of pride and complete mortification: My kid just did something really cool and scored a run! But oh sweet Jesus,  did I really catapult my body that quickly and far?

Oh yes I did.

I swore to my fellow team parents I would try my hardest to never do it again.

I hope they did not see my fingers crossed behind my back.

So go out there, have fun, and by all means, cheer for your kids and their teammates. You can even cheer for their opponents when they make a great play or show true grit.

Little League Coaches – Here's To You!

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

The school year is nearly over and summer is just around the corner.  One of America’s greatest traditions – Little League Baseball – has already begun in many towns across the country.  Little League Baseball

We were at the park this weekend and heard that awesome sound of the bat hitting the ball (gotta love the aluminum “ping”, which is the common noise outside of Major League ballparks!).  My son and I walked down to the ball field to check out the kids practice and ran into a friend who is coaching his son’s team this season.

Thought we’d do our part to help out our friends who are coaching this season and provide them with a pretty good site for managing their teams.  Hope you all have a fun and successful season!
